I've had far better results from changing springs to progressive MB then trying on different dampers. There was to my knowing no difference between cheap and expensive dampers.

I have a series 3 fitted with dampers and a series 2 with no dampers,both fitted with progressive springs and to be honest I cant feel any difference in handling.

Like others have said, don't waste money on the dampers, it's the springs and new rubbers that make the difference. I've had good results with the camlam ones but unfortunately they are yellow. Used some Scootopia with dampers and they are okay.
Back shocks are the same, nowt wrong with original Innocenti ones and the old escort ones, I know some new Escort ones have problems. I've also used the R1 type with nylon inserts and they are okay to convert.

thanks for all replies, i may look at getting some more MB springs for my forks like i had on my series 3,

ive got uprated af springs in my gp and escorts front dampers and i think its plenty firm enough, however i do have a rs front disc with antidive and must say the anti-dive is spot on, and much better than trying to get a solid front end that doesnt dive downwards when you brake, my other lammy will be getting anti dive when i strip it.

When you hit a bump in the road it's the springs that absorb the impact, the dampers were originally designed to only work one way to counteract the rebound of the spring, most of the new "bells & whistles" front dampers now work both ways effectively making the springs stiffer. Braking probably has the most effect on front end travel, dive being the most disconcerting issue, especially with an outboard disc brake. I agree with Holty that the best front end upgrade is anti dive.
When I first went to watch scooter racing there was a few trick looking front end set ups on the grid but the guy up front had a hydraulic inboard front disc and Escort dampers, nothing fancy. That's Ralph for you.
