New PX150

A lad in work has just traded in his Suzuki for a new PX 150. Suffice to say, the customer service from his local Piaggio dealer has been of the "I have your money, you figure the rest out yourself" variety.

Can I just confirm that it is an iron barrel and that it does need to be properly (ie up and down the gears, not labouring etc) run in over 1000 kms? As his route to work involves a hill that has caught me out in the past, seizure wise, I'd not like him to come a cropper so early into his Vespa ownership :!:

I have asked him to bring in the manual but I just thought I'd ask :)

It's certainly an iron barrel, you'll get plenty of opinions on how long to run it in of course.

And he'll probably want to get rid of the Euro3 emissions stuff to bring it back to normal performance.

I’ve just bought one too, the manual states not to take it over 80% of top speed for 1st 1000 kms. The dealer I bought it off in Barnsley said to just ride it but not be stupid. I try to keep it under 50mph but ease off a bit on hills or riding into strong winds.

Ok. Thanks for that. I'll give him my running in advice. I feel a sense of duty as I have badgered him for years to get one. He had a T5 years ago which was written off in a crash.

Does the PX150 have the same 5 port reed valve arrangement as the LML 150?
