Messing about with a Gilera Runner
one thing i have been wondering is what benifits do you expect or in what way is it better going reed in cylinder over the standard crankcase induction ?? is it simply that you can use a bigger reed /manifold and carb set up ??

The problem with a larger/longer case reed is case studs get in the way, a lot of complicated modification to two parts of the engine (rather than concentrating the majority of changes to the cylinder). This way, a production version would be much easy to install.
Using the existing GT reed and manifold saves a lot of costs, puts the carb in the right orientation and provides several carb options.
I'll have a look at a GTS linkage later this week.

Yes, it has been running for about 2 weeks now. The reedvalve works but it will need a dyno session to help figure out exactly when the PV pulls in (rev range) and get an impartial view on the AFR and engine performance. I have made a couple of collars to lock the variator so that BHP and AFR can be monitored with revs and load. Assembly wise it all worked out very well.
