New switch same problem. I think it's obviously down to something I'm not doing right. As before, I can't get anything off the new ignition with the multimeter.
It's finding out what I'm not doing right.

Some pictures of how you have things conected would help to understand your problem.
Try doing an external wiring with just your ignition,regulator your battery and a lamp. Everithing out of the bike and the black wire from the regulator desconected from earth and just conected to the negative terminal of the battery.
Then you will know if the ignition or regulator are the problem..

Not sure how to do this. I'm using a wassel set up.

Its quite easy. You need some electric wire and a 35W bulb (the one you use normally). The wassell has for wires. Leave the two yellow cnected to the stator.Those are the unregulated AC imput for the wassell. Disconect the battery and keep it isolated from frame and loom.
Disconect the red wire of the wassell and conect it to the positive pole of the battery using a length of wire.
Disconect the black wire of the wassell that shold be attached to the frame and conect it to the negative pole of the battery.
Then connect a 35W bulb to the battery as well as a volt meter.Start the engine and see if the voltage shown in the volt meter increases while reving.
What you are doing by this, is a similar sistem to the one you have on your bike,but discarting the loom,earthings, etc.
If with this "external wiring" the voltage increases when you accelerate ,we could state that your regulator,stator and flywheel are ok and could focus your search in other points.

Only real way is to disconnect every connection that goes to the loom and then check between every loom cable and earth, but you may have an intermittent earth which won't necessarily show up. Look for damage to the outer sheath of the loom along it's length.
