Thank you all for your comments. My commute is 35 mile round trip and I'd probably just run it into the ground, so I may go for the Lml, as I won't bother selling on. Keep the Lammy for best! Cheers

Personally if it were a choice between a p200e and an lml and I chose the lml for practicality I'd wonder why I hadn't just bought a Honda cb500.

But on the same note you could get an old CX 500 (plastic Maggot),Courier riders Hack of choice for decades, ugly as Sin but will do most things far better than any scooter could ever dream of. Bullet proof or just about anyway.

I bought a Honda SH300i of my mate for commuting. OK its far from pretty but it was cheap, its also economical 75-80mpg, comfortable, reliable and quick enough to upset GTS300 owners

If it's for commuting, you'd not go far wrong with one of the more capable filthy autos. A well looked after, low km, one owner, 400cc Burgman is in your budget. They do 70mpg+, sit at motorway speeds, and can easily fit all your gear under the seat. And at motorway speeds, you stay dry behind the screen.
And you'd be hard pushed to wear one out, unless you never change the oil or let the forks rust.

Few years ago, I managed to get a new LML, less engine, then installed a px200 lump, albeit tuned.

For the kind of use you've got in mind, I'd definitely go for the LML.

As for them being no good for long distances, I think Matt Tipper would disagree - he rode his LML 200 4T coast to coast across America:

My 17yr old lad has a Honda CBF125 which he uses to commute 22mls per day on, it's a '15 plate with 1400mls on it and cost me £1600!

Does over 100mpg.
