Ive just fitted a lighter flywheel from af and im now struggling to retard my bgm stator to 17deg , the best i can get is 19 deg , i have filed the holes as far as i dare go , the std flywheel seems to retard a lot further , any suggestion? Thanks Steve
Have you had it running and strobed it.
I had exactly the same issue with a BGM stator and AF flywheel- but static 19 deg was actually 16 deg when strobed

Yes garry woodruff key is at 8 o'clock, and when the arrow on the flywheel is on the 19 degree mark , the two lines mark up with the pick up box on the stator

I remember having to improve the slots on v2 and v3 but they made them longer on v4 there wasent any play on the mag housing when fitted as a couple of 30mm would put it right at 19 you could run hot
