I was sent this today from MMW in Germany, his new project and an amazing talent in my opinion...

I haven't got a clue what I am supposed to be looking at. I guess it's some sort of metering system for the fuel. Can you expand a little?
Looks like a lambretta with electronic fuel injection instead of a carb. Interesting stuff.......wonder if something like this will ever come to market and what benefits will it bring?
Mint i knew things like this have been about fitted to Ossa trials bikes but its the first time i have seen it on a Lammy

This is absolutely the way to go IMO.
There will be great benefits in performance and economy as the maps develop. I dropped Megasquirt in preference for a smaller more compact ECU because mega squirt was big and expensive and had other technical problems to do with packaging and controls. Either way, the key in all of this EFi development is producing stable power which just is not possible with flywheel magneto, you really need a generator.

This is the injection controller:

I believe the ignition is Zeeltronic based, available in 100w AC/DC and 180w DC.
MMW are more known for their CNC products for Lambretta and Vespa supplied by the likes of LTH, Scooter Center, SIP and Jockeys Boxenstop. These include the CNC master cylinders, antidive brakes, the LTH manifold amongst others.
Harald will be riding his Series 2 to Eurolambretta this year, so it'll be interesting to say the least.

Is this because of the constant up and down voltage and power that a magneto suffers from? I'm guessing it would play the ECU up?Rich_T wrote:This is absolutely the way to go IMO.

Not just the ECU, the big problem is that the fuel pump really sucks the power so you need a good few amps to drive the pump and still provide stable voltage for all the electronics even with all the lights on. for this a battery is definitely needed. I hope to be having a play with my EFi this summer when the test frame is finished. The throttle bodies are done, they are 39mm, I use all Suzuki donor parts to keep the cost down. The oval front is so that a standard KTM foam filter can be used. I made 5 throttle bodies for testing, if anyone wants to buy one to have a play themselves send me a mail. The ECU I use runs two injectors, one for low speed one for high speed, hence twin injectors of different sizes.

I guess this is why MMW developed the ignition too.
It's good to see there are some great minds working on this
Do you know what price point you're aiming for Rich?
