thanks Steve but that all sounds like far too much work to me :lol: I was lucky enough last month to find a Scooterotica member (Scoots) with the remains of a GP frame who cut the back end off and posted it to me for just P&P :D I have a Mig and so I will be welding on the rear of the frame when...

did you remove the clutch assembly to see if the back of the basket was rubbing on one of the endplate bolts or something out of sight ? Maybe a worn or wrong sized shim/s between the bearing and clutch carrier? taking up float in the mainshaft. You can get different shim thicknesses to space it mor...
