Re: What is the best Auto advance for my set up
Everything is reading crystal clear everyone! I see what you guys are saying. A quick test would be for me to strobe the damn thing, but i lent out my strobe and, well, bye bye. Re-reading the limited info on readspeed site it doesn't make this point clear at all, yet SULK does suggest that it does i...

Re: What is the best Auto advance for my set up
I hope so or it'll be me looking stupid, hopefully an expert can confirm.....where's that Eden when you need him ;) So just to concur, as my previous post, the readspeed CDI does in fact ADVANCE timing from the given stator static timing... But hey, we're essentially all jut hobbyists delving into ...

Re: What is the best Auto advance for my set up
I was under the impression these can only retard the timing? They can't advance the ignition ahead of being triggered by the flywheel sensor can they? I thought they just retarded the ignition as the revs increased. Reedspeed CDI is the only box im aware of that advances the timing. I rate mine jus...

Re: cutting reed windows
From memory I would leave a good 2mm from rings before cutting. remember that the vacuum only occurs as the piston ascends, so basic logic dictates that by the time the mixture is drawn down the manifold and inlet tract, the piston will already have ascended slightly, hence the lower down windows on...

Re: How to secure stator backplate to coil assembly
So I destroyed my working italian LT coil by trying to get it off the rather old assembly. Buggar. Ordered a BGM lt coil; theyre a good price actually.
So Frankenstein stator has another update that should prove reliable; let's hope the bgm coil doesnt fail!

Re: Electronic kit failed already?
With the multimeter, do an ohms test. Red wire to white wire is the pickup. should read between 90 and 110. Green to white is LT coil. should read 450-550. (i may be slightly off on the margins, its all from memory.) Sudden no spark i would think would be a very sudden failure of either. With no pre...

Re: How to secure stator backplate to coil assembly
Going to maplins tomorrow for a 7.99 30watt iron with a trigger that brings it up to 120 watt. Dont think ill be touching the trigger though! Thanks all for pointing out the p1551ing obvious; I have a indian stator missing a pickup and lt coil so will transfer these italian items on to it for one su...
